Streamlining Remittance Processing
Case Study: Iowa Health System

Iowa Health System operates a central business office that provides billing and remittance processing for many of the hospitals in the health system. Iowa identified a need to replace their existing manual processes and document filing with a sophisticated document management and remittance processing solution. The business office personnel were spending too much time manually balancing, posting, filing and retrieving hardcopy EOB's, resulting in extended AR days and increased overtime, third party collections and offsite storage costs. In addition, access to UB92's, admissions documents (insurance cards, driver's licenses, waivers, etc) and other general correspondence was very time consuming and in some cases impossible.

The objective was to streamline the manual remittance posting process and eliminate the large volumes of paper being handled and generated by the business office, i.e. UB92's, hardcopy EOB's, hardcopy checks and any related correspondence.

The solution was SoftCo Remit, which eliminated the handling of all paper documents and provided a single point of access where all documents handled during the accounts receivable process could be instantly retrieved.
